The final post

To be honest, this semester went by fairly quickly, and so did English classes (even though I missed a couple, oops) and I must say, I did enjoy them. This was my first and last semester (? of these classes, and I'm so glad I took them. Because in school, I never had classes like these, they were nothing compared with what we did this semester. We were always just reading or doing works that didn't seem to help us with english, instead this year I finally had the chance to speak english more often so I could improve in this, which I didn't have the opportunity to practice a lot in school, and I was shy about it. Writing the posts was also great, I really like writing and some times there were really interesting themes. But there are two special ones that I really enjoyed writing. The one about movies, and the one about dogs. What can I say? My absolutely two favorite things in the world. The one about movies, because I never before wrote about movies, or why did I liked/e

PARIS

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to go out of the country how I would like to, I’ve only been out once and I went to Argentina, which is not far from here and not that different to Chile. Given this, there are many countries I would absolutely love to go to, but when it comes to cities, it’s not something I have think of. I usually just like a country in general for what I can see on the internet, in pictures or what people says of these places. But Paris is the one city that I’ve always heard of on television or seen on movies (like Midnight in Paris!! I love that movie), and it’s just wonderful. Everyone knows it’s a beautiful city, and you would be lying if you say that you’re not interested on going there. If I go there, I would like to go around and maybe walk next to the Seine River and just admire everything this city has to give. For what I’ve seen, every place it’s just as amazing as the one that’s next to it. Obviously though, if I ever go there, I HAVE to visit The Lo

A special meal

It’s hard for me to think of one very special meal, mainly because there hasn’t been a huge celebration, or any that’s more important than the rest. The one I’m thinking of, it definitely wasn’t a big celebration, any birthday or special occasion, it was one meal of when my family and I made the trip to the south of Chile. We were traveling on a motor home, so most of our meals were inside the motor home, but the very first one, was the most special one. The night before, we parked in a gas station and slept there, and so the next morning we had to take breakfast. I remember it was the most complicated thing at first, since it was our first time doing that, not like it’s something completely out of the world, but we were six and there wasn’t too much space to move around. My dad went out to buy some food, something like cakes I think since we were already prepared and had bread and everything to put in it, and my mom went to get water so we could boil it and drink tea. I

DOGS

Dogs have always been called the men best friend, and it couldn't be more right, but for me, they are so much more than that. And as a dog owner (and lover) myself, I have experienced my whole life what is like to have a dog by your side and to love them deeply. So in this post, I'll write about dogs that I've owned. My very first dog was ''Tunga'', he was a crossbreed (of breeds I don't know) and he was quite small, but man, he was a fighter. He used to live more in the streets than in our home, but he always returned at night. I was too little when he passed away, but I know my family suffered a lot with his death, because he was just a great dog. There were another dogs in between, I believe so, (not sure if before or after the one I'm about to tell you), but they, for reasons I'm unaware of, they didn't live too long in our home.  Then came ''Tomy'', which we loved, but caused a lot of problems. He wa

A good friend of mine

A good friend of mine is Isidora. I met her when we were in kindergarten and we were like 5-6 years old. It’s hard for me to remember the very first day I met her, but I do know we’ve been friends ever since. We studied in the same school and in the same classes for 11 years, and then in 3ro medio, we split up. She went to the Humanist elective and I, to the Math elective. I remember being in school and singing with her some Katy Perry songs out loud when we were 12-13 years old. Or when we were younger, playing in the dirt with some tree leaves and water. I like her ‘cause we’ve always liked the same things (the same stupid things, I may say), we both share the love for movies and series, for books, for some music, and most importantly, art. Since we finished school, we haven’t seen each other that much, but when we do, we do the simplest things. We hang out to watch a movie, to walk, or go to expositions, or just being in any of our homes and lay in the couch and talk an

Chiloé Churches

The island of Chiloé is very well known for its colorful historical churches. They were named World Heritage Site in 2000 by the UNESCO. Most of them were built around 18 th and 19 th century, when Chiloé Archipelago was still under the  Spanish Crown possesion, so they came out as a result of a mix of cultures. And they were mainly made out of native timber and wood shingles. Sixteen of them are the most representative and they all have some details in common: they are located near the shore, they are surrounded by mountains on the north and the porticos are facing the south. As for the shape, they are all similar in size and decorations, they are all very simetrical and, what I like most about them, they are so colorful, which I think makes them look cheerful and full of life, even though they are more than 100 years old. Nowadays, they are very known around the world, and they are a popular tourist destination which makes Chile to have another beautiful landmark. I’ve

Movies

Something I’ve been really feeling passionate about lately is movies. I’ve always liked movies, but it wasn’t until I watched The Revenant by Alejandro González Iñárritu (who also directed Birdman , another amazing movie) in 2015 for the premiere, that I fell in love with movies. This one is basically a semi-biography of Hugh Glass in around 1800, and it tells part of his story. In its cast has Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, both such talented actors. If you don’t know which movie I’m talking of, you might recall it for the famous scene of the grizzly bear attack that Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) suffers. I really recommend it if you haven’t watched it, although it’s not for everyone, so watch it under your own risk haha. I must say, it’s not the greatest movie ever made, but it made me realize that movies are so much more than just some people acting. There’s the photography, the soundtrack, the color scheme, the subtle hints that many times are the key to fully understand a movie.

A trip to the South of Chile

The best holiday I’ve ever had so far, was in February this year. It was a trip my family and I had been planning a few months before. We wanted to go in a motor home to the south of Chile, that way we could visit a lot of places and it was a whole new way of traveling for us. I actually don’t remember very well exactly where we went each day, I remember of course all the places that we visited, but not in order. And I know it hasn’t been that long since we went, but my memory is reeeaally bad L . Back to the trip, we did go.  We invited our cousin too, so there was six of us. The whole time I was so excited for the trip, since I never went there before. Our main goal was to get to Chiloé, we obviously didn’t make it the first night, so we slept in a gas station in Los Angeles, which at first was a weird thing to do, but also fun! The next morning, we continued our way to Puerto Montt, and then to Chiloé. The best part was to travel in the ferry, it was so cold outside, it eve

Fiestas Patrias

I’ve always been eager for Fiestas Patrias, mainly because I get to rest (which for me is just laying on my bed not thinking of all the things I have to do) and sleep a lot. And also because everyone is extremely happy during this time (maybe due to the alcohol haha) and that makes me happy too. This year, I spent it more with my family. We went over my grandma and ate everything we could, specially ‘’empanadas’’ that she always makes, they are no doubt the best I’ve ever eaten. We went to the trustworthy Fonda in Parque O’Higgins, which is always good and well organized, so you can’t get lost and there’s about everything there, from food to drinks to handmade crafts. The only problem is that it was overcrowded (like always), but besides that it was great I also went to another Fonda near where I live in Maipú, and honestly It was so boring and I was a little bit tired too, and I only wanted to go home. To make it even worse, there was way, way too many people there, you c

IT

Last weekend I went to see ‘’It’’ to the cinema in Costanera Center with some friends. To start, it was a chaos to be able to meet up all the six of us. We set an hour to gather in the subway, we said ‘’Let’s meet up there at 11:00-11:30’’, and so we did. Some arrived there at 11:00 and others nearly 12:00, so some of us had to wait almost an hour there! And the movie was at 12:00!! And obviously, there was still one of us who hadn’t got there yet, and worst, he didn’t have a chip on his phone, so he couldn’t receive or make calls and we weren’t able to contact him. By the time it was already 12:00, but luckily there was another cinema show at 12:40, but we still had to hurry, because we needed to buy the tickets and some food. So we were there, at 12:25 with no tickets and no food and only 5 of us. We finally decided to just go to the cinema, we thought that maybe the one who hadn’t arrived yet was in his way, or worse, in his home peacefully sleeping. We got there, and sudde
