A trip to the South of Chile

The best holiday I’ve ever had so far, was in February this year. It was a trip my family and I had been planning a few months before. We wanted to go in a motor home to the south of Chile, that way we could visit a lot of places and it was a whole new way of traveling for us. I actually don’t remember very well exactly where we went each day, I remember of course all the places that we visited, but not in order. And I know it hasn’t been that long since we went, but my memory is reeeaally bad L.

Back to the trip, we did go.  We invited our cousin too, so there was six of us. The whole time I was so excited for the trip, since I never went there before.

Our main goal was to get to Chiloé, we obviously didn’t make it the first night, so we slept in a gas station in Los Angeles, which at first was a weird thing to do, but also fun! The next morning, we continued our way to Puerto Montt, and then to Chiloé. The best part was to travel in the ferry, it was so cold outside, it even rained a little bit, but like everything we were doing, it was another new experience. And we got to see some seals in the ocean too!

It was unbelievably beautiful there. The views were amazing, it was all surrounded by just nature and it was the best thing ever. We had lunch there and continued to Dalcahue, we had trouble though finding a nice camping place, so we could sleep. February and the holidays were ending so there weren’t too many people camping or anything like that, and not all the places were trustworthy. We found one right next to the sea, and we made a barbecue in the night under the light of millions and millions of stars that you can’t see here in Santiago, and it was everything just so quiet, you could hear the sea and the wind through the trees. It was just wonderful.

I don’t exactly remember where we went next, but we did go to Frutillar when we were returning from Chiloé, and we saw the Lago Llanquihue, which was yet another beautiful thing of the trip. We met there and English man, Hans, who had a plot there and a motorhome as well. And my dad, as good with words as he is, we got along pretty fast with him, so we spent the night there.

So, summing up, we ate, slept, rested and enjoyed a lot. But the best part for me, was to spent a whole week with my family, since we don’t get these opportunities to be together that long, due to the fact that my parents work all day all days, especially my dad that works every single day and we didn’t have a holiday like this before.

I hope we can have a holiday like this again, but maybe this time for a little bit longer or even in another country, that would be amazing.

Fiestas Patrias

I’ve always been eager for Fiestas Patrias, mainly because I get to rest (which for me is just laying on my bed not thinking of all the things I have to do) and sleep a lot. And also because everyone is extremely happy during this time (maybe due to the alcohol haha) and that makes me happy too. This year, I spent it more with my family. We went over my grandma and ate everything we could, specially ‘’empanadas’’ that she always makes, they are no doubt the best I’ve ever eaten. We went to the trustworthy Fonda in Parque O’Higgins, which is always good and well organized, so you can’t get lost and there’s about everything there, from food to drinks to handmade crafts. The only problem is that it was overcrowded (like always), but besides that it was great I also went to another Fonda near where I live in Maipú, and honestly It was so boring and I was a little bit tired too, and I only wanted to go home. To make it even worse, there was way, way too many people there, you c...

DOGS

Dogs have always been called the men best friend, and it couldn't be more right, but for me, they are so much more than that. And as a dog owner (and lover) myself, I have experienced my whole life what is like to have a dog by your side and to love them deeply. So in this post, I'll write about dogs that I've owned. My very first dog was ''Tunga'', he was a crossbreed (of breeds I don't know) and he was quite small, but man, he was a fighter. He used to live more in the streets than in our home, but he always returned at night. I was too little when he passed away, but I know my family suffered a lot with his death, because he was just a great dog. There were another dogs in between, I believe so, (not sure if before or after the one I'm about to tell you), but they, for reasons I'm unaware of, they didn't live too long in our home.  Then came ''Tomy'', which we loved, but caused a lot of problems. He wa...

Chiloé Churches

The island of Chiloé is very well known for its colorful historical churches. They were named World Heritage Site in 2000 by the UNESCO. Most of them were built around 18 th and 19 th century, when Chiloé Archipelago was still under the  Spanish Crown possesion, so they came out as a result of a mix of cultures. And they were mainly made out of native timber and wood shingles. Sixteen of them are the most representative and they all have some details in common: they are located near the shore, they are surrounded by mountains on the north and the porticos are facing the south. As for the shape, they are all similar in size and decorations, they are all very simetrical and, what I like most about them, they are so colorful, which I think makes them look cheerful and full of life, even though they are more than 100 years old. Nowadays, they are very known around the world, and they are a popular tourist destination which makes Chile to have another beautiful landmark. I...
